Melanie works with adults experiencing anxiety, burnout, relationship strain, trauma symptoms, attachment wounds, and long-standing emotional patterns that feel hard to break.

Many of her clients are women navigating midlife stress, caregiving demands, and a lifetime of putting others first.

Her focus is on deeper, long-term change, not surface-level symptom management.

Melanie integrates EMDR, schema therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT), somatic practices, and a developmental lens. She combines these approaches based on what each person needs, rather than following a preset formula.

The first session offers a chance to talk about what’s been happening in your life and what you’re hoping to change. You’ll discuss your history, current stressors, and what patterns you want to understand better.

You’ll also get a sense of Melanie’s style, ask any questions you might have, and decide together what the next steps should look like.

When it comes to therapy, there’s no set timeline.

Melanie works with many clients who want deeper, long-term support because short-term or solution-focused counselling hasn’t helped them in the past.

In any case, progress depends on your goals, life-long entrenched patterns, history, and the pace that feels safe for you.

No. You don’t need a referral from a doctor or a mental health diagnosis to work with Melanie. You can reach out at any time.

Yes. Melanie offers both in-person sessions in Winnipeg and secure virtual sessions for clients across Manitoba.

Sessions cost $160. This rate applies to both in-person and virtual appointments.

For most patients, Melanie provides a detailed receipt after each session, which you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement.

However, she does offer direct billing for First Nations and the Inuit Health Branch.

Most clients start with weekly or bi-weekly sessions, and once progress feels steady, some shift to a less frequent schedule.

At any rate, the pace depends on what you’re working through and what feels manageable.

Regardless of why you’re feeling that way, the truth is it’s completely normal to feel hesitant about starting therapy.

But Melanie encourages potential clients to explore what’s underneath that hesitation, whether it’s fear of judgment, uncertainty about the process, or worry about what may come up.

Many of Melanie’s clients have had this experience.

Short-term counselling, EAP programs, or purely cognitive approaches often help in the moment but don’t address the deeper roots of long-standing emotional patterns.

Melanie’s work goes further by integrating trauma-informed methods, nervous-system regulation, relational depth, and developmental history so change can last.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is an evidence-based method that helps the brain process traumatic or overwhelming experiences. It can reduce emotional intensity, shift automatic reactions, and help you feel more grounded.

Melanie has advanced training in EMDR and will help determine whether it’s a good fit based on your goals, stability, and readiness.

Your emotional safety comes first, and that’s why Melanie uses titration and somatic pacing to ensure you don’t leave sessions feeling flooded or destabilized.

If something feels like it’s too much, therapy slows down, but if you feel ready, you can go deeper.

The goal is steady, sustainable change, not re-traumatization.
